Celebrate Canadian artist Emily Carr’s 154th birthday and explore her incredible story at the Carr House on Saturday, December 13th.
A beloved place for artists and writers, Carr House is a National and Provincial Historic Site that offers a unique glimpse into the iconic artist’s early life.
This preserved family home gives insight into the environment that nurtured Carr’s imagination and creativity, leading her to become one of Canada’s most celebrated artists for her depictions of Indigenous villages, monumental art, and British Columbia landscapes.
“Carr House is more than a historic site, it’s a living tribute to Emily’s enduring spirit,” said Shannon King, Executive Director at Carr House. “Visitors can experience the home that shaped her creative journey and gain a personal understanding of the woman behind the brush.”
To mark her 154th birthday, Carr House is hosting a special community celebration on Saturday, December 13th from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
Visitors can enjoy a free slice of Thrifty Food’s cake (while supplies last) before browsing a selection of Carr-inspired artwork and participating in art activity stations that encourage guests to unleash their creativity.
There will also be a door prize up for grabs donated by Emerald Day Spa!
