Oak Bay Police are investigating an attempted vehicle theft after a classic Ford Bronco was targeted outside an automotive shop on Newport Avenue.
Police were called to the 1200 block of Newport on November 24th after the owner found the 1982 Bronco damaged.
The driver-side window had been smashed and the steering column had been tampered with. Police believe the suspect was unable to get the SUV started because of a dead battery.
A screwdriver left at the scene has been seized for forensic testing. Investigators also obtained surveillance video that shows a person wearing a brown jacket and an orange safety vest in the area around the time of the incident.
The attempted theft was one of several property-related calls police responded to in Oak Bay over the past week.
