Victoria earned another bit of online attention this week after American singer and songwriter David Pomeranz posted a warm thank-you message following his show in the city.

Pomeranz performed at the Victoria Conference Centre on Saturday, November 29th as part of his Got to Believe concert.

The event ran from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. and brought together local fans of his long-running music career.

After the show, he shared a video on Facebook for his million plus followers. In the clip, he thanks the crowd and gives Victoria a direct shoutout for the strong turnout and the energy in the room.

Pomeranz is known for songs such as “Born for You,” “King and Queen of Hearts,” and “Got to Believe in Magic.”

He has written music for film, television, and musical theatre, and several of his albums have gone platinum in the Philippines, where he has a large following.

Pomeranz also serves as an ambassador for Operation Smile, a foundation that supports children who require cleft lip and palate surgery.

His visit to Victoria follows another high-profile shoutout the city received last month. Retired astronaut Chris Hadfield shared a photo of the BC Legislature during a stop on his Final Orbit Canada Tour.

The post drew tens of thousands of views and hundreds of comments from people across the country.

Hadfield later held a packed event at Bolen Books, where he discussed Final Orbit, the final novel in his Apollo Murders series, and answered questions from the audience.

Pomeranz’s message adds to a growing list of well-known figures who have highlighted Victoria online, giving the city a bit of extra attention far beyond Vancouver Island.
