Victorians can make a difference in their community this holiday season with Beacon Community Services “Shine a Light on Food Security” campaign.
Starting November 13th, they’ll be accepting donations to aid them in delivering meals and expanding food access across southern Vancouver Island and Gulf Islands during the holidays.
As the cost of living increases, food insecurity is now one of the biggest issues facing our community, especially seniors, young families, and unhoused youth.
The Shine a Light holiday campaign is a call for the community to support Beacon’s programs that provide meals to children, youth, and seniors across the region.
“When children have a healthy meal, they learn better,” said Tricia Sexton-Earl, CEO of Beacon Community Services. “When youth can count on dinner, they feel safe. When a senior receives a warm meal and a smile, they feel less alone.”
“That’s what community looks like—and it’s what your gift to Beacon makes possible.”
According to the 2025 Vital Signs Report, one in five households in Greater Victoria struggle to put food on the table–this rate doubling since 2019.
Through initiatives, like Shine a Light, Beacon has been able to assist those in need–delivering thousands of nutritional meals every year.
They’re not just feeding people this winter—they’re helping them stay healthy, connected, and supported.
This holiday season, Beacon is calling Victorians to come together and lift each other up. Your generosity can help fill plates, warm hearts, and strengthen the community!
Donate here today and help ensure every neighbour has access to nourishing meals.
