For the first time, The Elf on the Shelf and Elf Pets films are coming to the big screen in Canada, giving Vancouver Island families a new way to enjoy the holiday season.
The special two-weekend event celebrates 20 years of the mischievous little elf who’s become part of so many holiday traditions.
“For the first time ever, The Elf on the Shelf films are coming to the big screen in Canada,” reads a statement from the movie theatre chain.
“Cineplex, in partnership with The Lumistella Company and Playology International, is launching The Elf on the Shelf Movie Magic — Family Favourites, a special screening program to celebrate the 20th anniversary of a beloved tradition.”
The program is part of Cineplex’s nationwide Family Favourites series, which offers affordable weekend movies for families.
Tickets are priced at $3.99 plus tax when purchased in theatres, with an additional online booking fee of up to $1.50. CineClub members can use their free monthly ticket for entry.
The event features two themed Saturdays, each starting at 11 a.m.:
- Saturday, November 29th: An Elf’s Story: The Elf on the Shelf (2011) and Elf Pets: Santa’s St. Bernards Save Christmas (2018)
- Saturday, December 6th: Elf Pets: A Fox Cub’s Christmas Tale (2019) and Elf Pets: Santa’s Reindeer Rescue (2020)
Families can also find themed kids’ combos, Elf on the Shelf blind-bag collectibles, and other limited-edition merchandise at participating theatres.
Additional screenings will take place across the province as part of the 80-theatre national rollout.
Launched in 2005, The Elf on the Shelf has become a fixture in homes around the world during the holidays. This year marks its 20th anniversary, and the theatrical screenings are designed to bring that familiar story to life in a new way.
