VicPD have arrested a repeat offender after a robbery that targeted two people, aged 73 and 49, in downtown on Sunday.
According to police, Victoria city staff reported that the suspect had robbed the victims of their belongings.
Responding police officers located the man a short distance away, where he was allegedly attempting to break into another residence.
Police say officers intervened and safely took the suspect into custody without further incident.
Crown Counsel has since approved three charges against the suspect for robbery, break and enter, and obstructing a peace officer.
Investigators say additional charges may be considered as the case progresses. The man is known to police and has a history of residential break-and-enter offences.
VicPD highlighted the quick and coordinated response between officers and city staff, noting it reflects their ongoing collaboration to help keep the community safe.
