Two familiar faces will be gracing the lineup of Team Canada White at the 2025 World Under-17 Challenge on the east coast this November, as Hockey Canada announced their roster today.
Victoria Royals’ forwards Eli McKamey and Jacob Schwartz will represent the west coast during the tournament in Truro, Nova Scotia, which is scheduled to take place from November 2nd to 8th.
Vancouver-born Schwartz has been a solid addition to the Royals’ roster of of late, originally selected 8th overall in the 2024 WHL Prospects Draft by Victoria.
Last year, he led his league in goals while playing for St. George’s School U15 Prep team, with a final tally of 30 goals and 26 assists for 56 points in 26 games.
This season, his first in the WHL, Schwartz has two points (one goal, one assist) across his 7 games played, which includes his first-ever WHL goal which came about in the Royals’ last game, ending in a 3-2 overtime win against the Penticton Vees.
Local acquisition McKamey hails from Cowichan Bay, and was selected 35th overall in the 2024 WHL Prospects Draft by Victoria.
Previously, McKamey played for Shawnigan Lake School U18 Prep team where he tallied 23 goals and 25 assists for 48 points in 28 games.
Following this, he joined the Penticton Vees in the BCHL, earning the title of the league’s first ever exceptional status player, allowing him to play a full season at just 15 years old.
During this time, he scored 31 points (15 goals, 16 assists) in 52 games for Penticton.
TSN will broadcast the medal games of the Canada at 2025 World Under-17 Challenge, and Team Canada White will kick-off the tournament on November 3rd at 7:30 p.m. (AT) against Sweden.
