Suspect sought after thousands in bottles stolen from Sooke Sea Cadets (VIDEO)

Share

Police are searching for a suspect caught on video stealing thousands of dollars worth of returnable beverage containers collected by young Sea Cadets.

The bottles were being collected to support the 325 Admiral Waller Royal Canadian Sea Cadet Corps in Sooke.

According to Greater Victoria Crime Stoppers, the theft happened in the early morning hours of October 10th, when someone broke into a sea can storage unit and took the bottles and cans that cadets had spent the past year collecting for fundraising efforts.

The suspect, described as a man wearing a distinctive jacket with striped cuffs and waist and a logo on the front, was seen in surveillance footage leaving with the stolen containers.

He was also wearing unique shoes that investigators hope will help identify him.

“This wasn’t just theft—it was stealing from local youth who worked hard to raise money for their program,” Crime Stoppers said in a social-media post.

“Your conscience must be emptier than the bottles you stole.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Sooke RCMP or submit an anonymous tip to Greater Victoria Crime Stoppers by calling 1-800-222-8477 or online.
