“These types of incidents cause understandable concern for many residents,” said Inspector Donovan Tait, Operations Officer for the Nanaimo RCMP. “We want to thank the public for their vigilance and for promptly reporting suspicious activity, which played a key role in advancing this investigation.”

RCMP did not confirm if this arrest is linked to a series of similar incidents reported in August and September in central and south Nanaimo, where residents saw a prowler looking into windows late at night.

In those earlier cases, police said patrol officers increased their presence in the affected areas. They urged residents to keep doors and windows locked, use outdoor lighting and motion sensors, and report any suspicious activity right away.

Victoria Buzz has reached out to Nanaimo RCMP to ask if the latest arrest is connected to those earlier reports and will update this story once we hear back.
