One man was sentenced last week at the Victoria Provincial Court in connection with a shooting and arson investigation that took place in Colwood during September of last year.
However, there was one suspect who remains at large, and now police are using the sentencing of 26-year-old Abjeet Kingra to try to catch the second suspect in the incident.
Kingra has been sentenced to two years in jail for arson, and six years for discharging his firearm in a reckless manner.
This wasn’t Kingra’s first criminal offence, as the presiding judge who handed him the sentence noted he is a known member of the Lawrence Bishnoi crime group in India.
Because Kingra has been held in custody since his arrest on October 30th, 2024, he was credited 489 days time served and now must serve the remaining 4.5 years (1701 days).
In addition to his jail time, the court has imposed a lifetime firearms prohibition on Kingra.
Following the incident, the home where the shooting was identified as belonging to Punjabi singer AP Dhillon.
Video obtained by Victoria Buzz at the time shows a man deliberately setting two vehicles on fire using an accelerant before firing multiple shots at a house. A vehicle then arrives at the scene moments later, and the suspects quickly jump in before fleeing.
Video, which has not been independently verified, shows shocking footage of an arson suspect setting two vehicles ablaze in Colwood. Shots were also fired at the same location.

Investigators say they believe the second suspect in this case is 24-year-old Vikram Sharma, who is wanted, similarly, for discharge of a firearm with intent and arson.
Sharma is believed to be currently in India, and is described as a South Asian male, standing 5’9” tall, weighing around 181 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.
West Shore RCMP say the investigation is still open and they are working with their partners to locate and apprehend Sharma.
“The sentencing of Abjeet Kingra is the result of months of dedicated investigative work by our officers,” said Inspector Stephen Rose, Acting Officer in Charge of West Shore RCMP.
“While we are pleased to see accountability in this case, our work is not done. We remain committed to locating Vikram Sharma and bringing him before the courts.”
Anyone with information about Vikram Sharma’s whereabouts should contact West Shore RCMP at (250) 474-2264.
