Oak Bay Police seeking information on watercolour paintings stolen from local rec centre

Oak Bay Police are seeking public assistance in locating numerous watercolour paintings that were stolen from the Monterey Recreation Centre.

According to police, the theft occurred at around 10:45 a.m. on October 19th. 

An artist reportedly left two large black portfolios containing 30 to 40 unframed watercolour paintings on top of their vehicle for a brief time while unloading art supplies in the parking lot of the rec centre. 

When the artist returned to their vehicle, within around five minutes, the portfolios were gone. Police say that the paintings are valued at approximately $500 each.

The incident of theft was reported to police a few days later, on October 22nd. 

While the investigation is ongoing, Oak Bay Police are asking for anyone with information to come forward and contact police citing file number 25-2983.
