This weekend, Make Good Party will be taking over downtown Victoria’s Market Square for an unforgettable Halloween party, complete with DJs and food vendors.
For this event, organizers have concocted a fun and intriguing legend which tells of fortune being found beneath Market Square.
“Legend says somewhere below Market Square an ancient stream flows and in the 1800s fortunes in the form of gold nuggets were found,” reads the event description crafted by Make Good Party organizers.
“This led to squabbles between gold fevering prospectors who were willing to do anything to secure their fortune including… cold blooded murder.”
For the sake of the event, this new-age ghost story tells of spirits of long forgotten victims appearing to the unsuspecting, and are sometimes heard dragging their pick axes slowly down the square’s corridors.
To aid attendees in summoning these “ghosts,” there will be several DJs and a dance floor set up in the square.
DJing the event will be Woodhead, Leanne and Sarah-Hannah, Gano, Audiofox, Dataist and Clark.
There will also be a licensed bar, a makers market, food vendors, a kid’s zone and tarot readings.
Additionally, a flash mob will be taking place at the event at some point, ghostly walking tours will be onsite to share the real history and ghost stories of the square and there will be prizes given out for the best costumes.
Organizers also noted that the market area will be indoors and the party will be tented with heat lamps.
This event was funded in part by the City of Victoria’s OUR DWTN Ideas Fund.
