A serious collision has closed the northbound lanes of the Trans Canada Highway in Saanich this afternoon.
According to Saanich Police, their traffic and collision analyst are on scene in the 1100-block of the highway.
The northbound lanes from McKenzie Avenue to Helmcken Road are currently shut down for safety reasons and to allow investigators to work.

Police stressed the well-being of those involved is the top priority as the investigation continues.
Witnesses told Victoria Buzz they saw a vehicle drive into a construction pit along the highway, which they estimated to be about 50 feet deep. This has yet to be confirmed, however, photos from the scene show emergency crews along side the highway in the contruction zone.
Drivers are being advised to avoid the area and expect significant delays. Injuries are currently unknown as of this publication.
