The BC Conservation Officer Service (BCCOS) is investigating after a cougar was discovered with a suspected gunshot wound in Port Alberni.
The injured animal had been the subject of several community sightings in recent weeks, however, the incident that had never been reported.
Officers are now working to determine what happened and who may be responsible.
BCCOS are urging anyone with information to come forward, emphasizing that even small details could help move the investigation forward.
“If you saw or heard anything that could shed light on this case, please contact us,” said the BCCOS. “Your information could help hold those responsible accountable.”
