A tense situation in Saanich unfolded Thursday afternoon after police were called to a report of an assault with a weapon at a residence on Cloverdale Avenue.
According to Saanich Police, officers responded to the home in the 900-block of Cloverdale Avenue just after 1:30 p.m.
The situation quickly escalated into a barricade, prompting the activation of the Greater Victoria Emergency Response Team (GVERT).
By around 3:30 p.m., GVERT officers entered the residence and safely took one person into custody without further incident.
Police say the individual was transported to hospital for treatments.
In a social meida post, Saanich Police said the investigation remains ongoing, and police have not yet released further details about potential charges or injuries.
