Long-time Victoria broadcaster Al Ferraby has been charged with two counts of child luring, according to BC court records.
The veteran C-FAX 1070 Radio morning show host faces one count of telecommunicating to entice a child under 16, and another count for enticing a child under 18.
The alleged offenses occurred in Victoria and Vancouver.
Ferraby, who has been with C-FAX since 1994, has been a well-known figure in Greater Victoria for decades. Besides his radio work, he is recognized for singing the national anthem at local sports events and volunteering with community charities.
In a statement, Bell Media, which owns both C-FAX and CTV News, confirmed Ferraby’s suspension.
“We are aware of the charges and can confirm that he has been suspended pending an investigation by Victoria Police. We have no further comment at this time.”
In an email statement to Victoria Buzz, the Vancouver Police Department confirmed that its internet child exploitation unit started an investigation in September 2024. This led to the arrest of a 59-year-old man from Victoria in February 2025.
On September 17th, the BC Prosecution Service filed two counts of child luring in connection with the case.
“We are not prepared to share additional evidentiary information which may form part of the criminal proceedings,” VPD said in their statement.
Court documents reveal Ferraby has been released from police custody.
None of the allegations have been proven in court.
