West Shore RCMP are investigating after two vehicles were set on fire in Colwood in the early hours Thursday.
Police say officers were called around 1:25 a.m. on September 4th, to the 3300 block of Painter Road after witnesses reported hearing a loud bang followed by flames.
When officers arrived, they found a black 2021 Cadillac XT4 and a black 2011 Cadillac CTS fully engulfed. Colwood Fire Rescue quickly extinguished the fires, but both vehicles were heavily damaged.
No injuries were reported.
The suspect is described as a man, about 6′ tall, with a slim build, wearing dark clothing.
He was last seen running from the scene. Investigators believe the arson was targeted and that there is no broader risk to the public.
“We believe this was a targeted offence. While these types of crimes are concerning, we want to reassure the community that there is no indication the public at large is at risk,” said Sgt. Kevin Shaw of the West Shore RCMP Serious Crimes Unit.
Police are asking anyone in the area with home security or dashcam footage between 1 a.m. and 1:45 a.m. to contact investigators.
Anyone with information is asked to call West Shore RCMP at 250-474-2264.
