West Shore RCMP are looking into a reported sexual assault involving a child at the Eagle View Elementary School playground.
Police say the incident occurred on Monday, September 15th, between 5 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. on the school grounds on Talcott Road. A young girl was playing outside when an unknown man approached her. He exposed himself and touched her inappropriately.
The child was unharmed physically and managed to leave safely, according to police.
RCMP officers searched the area for witnesses and examined video surveillance. They have not received any similar reports.
The suspect is described as a Caucasian man in his 20s to 30s with hair longer than shoulder length. He wore prescription glasses, a black hoodie with white writing, and green cargo-style pants.
Police are asking residents with home surveillance or dash camera footage from September 15th, between 5 p.m. and 6:30 p.m., to check their recordings, especially if they live on or near:
- Watkiss Way and Meadow Park Lane
- Burnside Road West and Stone Ridge Drive
- Newstead Crescent
- Meadow Park Lane
- Talcott Road
“This is a deeply concerning incident and our investigators are working diligently to identify and locate the suspect,” said Cpl. Nancy Saggar, West Shore RCMP media relations officer.
“We are asking anyone who may have seen suspicious activity in the area to contact police right away. Even small details can assist in advancing this investigation.”
Police also reminded parents and caregivers to review safety practices with children, including staying in groups in well-populated areas, reporting anything that makes them uncomfortable to a trusted adult, and calling 911 if they feel unsafe.
