A Victoria man wanted on nearly a dozen warrants has been arrested while commiting another offence.
On the morning of September 18th, Oak Bay Police were called to a hotel on Beach Drive e after a man was caught on CCTV trying to steal a key to the cash box.
According to police, the man appeared on surveillance cameras around 1:30 a.m. entering the pub area of the hotel, which was closed at the time.
Staff reported he took a key from behind the bar and then refused to return it when confronted.
Police arrived at the location just after 2 a.m. and found the man in the lobby. He handed over the key without incident but didn’t get far. Police quickly learned he was wanted on 10 outstanding warrants from VicPD.
The warrants included a long list of serious charges such as assault, fraud, making threats, breaching conditions, motor vehicle theft, dangerous driving, failure to stop, mischief, and even setting off a false fire alarm.
The man was arrested on the spot and taken into custody.
