Cyclists in Victoria can ride the bus for free during ‘Go By Bike’ week

Victoria cyclists can score a free ride next week during Go By Bike week, thanks to a collaboration between the Victoria Regional Transit Commission and BC Transit.

From September 27th to October 3rd, local bike-riders can hop on the bus for no charge, using BC Transit’s bike racks.

To qualify for free transit, cyclists taking part in Go By Bike Week must use the bus bike racks OR show their bike helmet when boarding the bus.

BC Transit offers bike racks on all conventional buses, combining two forms of sustainable transit.

One big plus to the above is that it offers flexibility when Victoria’s unpredictable weather inevitably strikes—sunshine on the way into work but rain and cold wind on the way home?

No worries, just pop the bike on the bus and enjoy a free ride!

Although most bikes can be accommodated on buses, BC Transit reminds riders that bike space is limited and cannot be guaranteed.

There will be a ‘Pedal and Connect’ event on October 2nd from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Centennial Square, where BC Transit will be on-site answer questions and show a video demonstration of using bike racks.
