CFAX Santas Anonymous has confirmed that long-time radio broadcaster Al Ferraby has been removed from its board of directors after being charged with two counts of child luring.

In a statement released on Friday September 19th, the charity said it learned of the charges on September 18th and had no prior knowledge of the investigation.

Police have not reached out to the organization, according to the release.

“Mr. Ferraby has been removed from the CFAX Santas Anonymous board of directors pending the outcome of the investigation by the Vancouver Police Department,” said Ryan Price, president of the CFAX Santas Anonymous Society.

The organization clarified that Ferraby did not participate in the daily operations of the charity while he was on the board.

Ferraby has been a well-known public figure in Greater Victoria for decades, both on-air at CFAX 1070 and through his community work.

He has participated in CFAX Santas Anonymous for many years, helping with the charity’s initiatives to provide food, grants, and wellness programs to families in need.

CFAX Santas Anonymous, now in its 48th year, is one of Greater Victoria’s longest-running children’s charities. Each year, over 400 volunteers and community supporters contribute to the organization’s efforts to reduce poverty and improve the lives of families throughout the region.

The charity says it remains “passionately committed” to its mission and will not be commenting further at this time.

Ferraby has been released from custody. None of the allegations have been proven in court.
