One of Victoria’s most beloved summer traditions is returning to the city this week!

The annual Free-B Film Festival, a series of free outdoor movie screenings, is set to return to Beacon Hill Park on Friday, August 8th and continue every Friday and Saturday until Saturday, August 23rd.

This highly-anticipated film festival will be entering its 26th year, and always brings a lineup of the most nostalgic classics and cult favourites to the big screen under the stars.

Rediscover an old childhood favourite, or introduce yourself and friends to a classic gem for the first time—either way, unwind and enjoy the magic of the movies in the fresh air!

This year’s festival schedule includes:

  • Friday, August 8th: Viva Las Vegas
  • Saturday, August 9th: Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed
  • Friday, August 15th: House on Haunted Hill (1959)
  • Saturday, August 16th: Matilda
  • Friday, August 22nd: King Kong vs. Godzilla (1962)
  • Saturday, August 23rd: Clue (1985)

All screenings will begin at 9 p.m. at the Cameron Bandshell in Beacon Hill Park. Plus, each film is rated G or PG, making the festival an easy pick for families as well.

“Nothing beats a summer night in the park with film icons lighting up the silver screen,” said Victoria Film Festival Program Manager Mark Hoyne.

“Elvis, Scooby-Doo, Godzilla, Matilda, Vincent Price…I think there’s something for everyone at Free-B this year.”
