After 13 years as one of Victoria’s favourite spots for craft beer enthusiasts, Moon Under Water Brewpub & Distillery is entering a new chapter with a complete rebrand.
The well-known Bay Street establishment will soon operate under the name Brass Monkey Brewing & Taproom, led by local hospitality professionals Morgan Watson and Jason Clifford.
The pair brings years of experience in the industry and a vision to elevate the food and beverage program while maintaining the brewpub’s strong ties to the local craft beer scene.
“Anne and Steve are heading into a well-earned retirement, and we thank them for their years of dedication to the business and their contributions to the community,” the announcement read on social media.
Most of the current team will remain in place during the transition, including Brewmaster Clay Potter, who will continue to craft high-quality beer using locally sourced ingredients such as malt from Field Five Farm.
New additions to the team include Food and Beverage Manager Damian Allen, Hospitality Director Morgan Watson, and Executive Chef Jason Clifford.
The rebrand also comes with a refreshed lineup of beers. Brass Monkey is launching a core selection that includes a Bohemian pilsner called Scaramouche, Scaramouche, a BC pale ale named Licensed to Ale, a West Coast IPA called Chickity-check, and a hazy IPA named High Dough. These beers are already appearing in local liquor stores, pubs and restaurants. Seasonal offerings and collaborations will follow in the coming months.
The official launch of the Brass Monkey Brewing & Taproom brand will take place in September at the same location on 350 Bay Street.
Visitors can expect a new food program, new beers and a revitalized space while the brewery continues to uphold its commitment to quality and community.
