Our city has once again claimed a spot among the best cities in Canada, coming in at fifth place on Travel + Leisure’s annual list of top Canadian destinations.
The placements are determined by thousands of readers across the globe, and Victoria placed alongside major hubs such as Quebec City in first, Montreal in second and Vancouver in third place.
This reinforces the impact that Victoria’s beaches, charming downtown core and rich restaurant and cocktail scene has on those who visit.
According to Travel + Leisure’s release, readers praised the city’s elegant British architecture, lush green spaces, and laid back coastal feel.
It’s a place where historic parliament buildings meet vibrant harbour fronts, and where the city’s slower pace offers a refreshing contrast to the bustle of larger urban centres.
One of Victoria’s most celebrated attractions is Butchart Gardens, which earned particular mention from survey participants.
The iconic botanical gardens span over 55 acres of floral displays, walking paths, and water features, and it remains one of the region’s most beloved and photogenic destinations.
And with Vancouver jumping to 3rd, the 2025 rankings also underscore how BC continues to shine on the national stage!
Victoria’s Reader Score of 80.70 places it just behind Halifax and firmly among the country’s most admired destinations.
In addition to this special recognition, the Fairmont Empress just ranked as the #1 best City Hotel in Canada in the 2025 edition of Travel + Leisure World’s Best Awards.
