Two Victoria-based ice cream businesses, Cold Comfort and Kid Sister, will soon have new locations.
For Kid Sister Ice Cream, this is great news, as they have not had a brick and mortar location since the 2021 closure of their Fan Tan Alley location.
They will be setting up shop at 1320 Esquimalt Road, just west of the Admirals Road intersection.
Kid Sister will be moving into the former Talia’s Mini Market location, where they will once again serve ice cream scoops, vegan sorbet and their iconic pops.
“We’re so excited to be part of this vibrant community, and to honour the legacy of the original Kid Sister shops,” said Kid Sister’s management in a social media post.
Cold Comfort also announced they will be moving into a new location and leaving their North Park home.
According to their recent post, Cold Comfort is in need of cheaper rent and more production space.
However, they will not be leaving too soon—Cold Comfort will remain business as usual until the end of September.
“For the record, we did ask the landlord if we could keep our cute little storefront here but he said no,” Cold Comfort wrote on social media.
They have not yet revealed where they will be moving to at this time, but mentioned that it will open early next year.
Following September, Cold Comfort says that those seeking an ice cream treat will have to default to their Cook Street Village location, as they prepare and execute their move.
“Cold Comfort will keep a presence in our beloved Fernhood [sic] and North Park neighborhoods—our soul is here and we will haunt you—in a loving way,” they wrote.
“Prepare for pop ups next summer and look for our products in local shops.”
Cold Comfort added that this is not goodbye, it’s just “see y’around.”
