Popular ramen shop to open new location in Langford next week

Langford will soon have its first and only ramen shop, as the owners of Victoria’s Ramen Arashi are opening a new location in the West Shore area next week. 

After months of work and anticipation, Ramen Arashi Langford is slated to have its grand opening on Wednesday, July 9th. 

Ramen Arashi Langford will be owned and operated by Yuko and Allan Nichols, the same team behind the well-established Victoria location. 

“We’ve had so many guests from Langford making the trip to Victoria just to eat our ramen,” said Allan. 

“It was clear to us that the West Shore was hungry for its own Ramen Arashi.”

The new ramen shop is located at 109-1331 Westhills Drive, right next to the YMCA and just minutes away from several Langford destinations, such as the mountain bike park, BoulderHouse climbing gym, the rugby fields, and Pacific FC’s stadium. 

According to Ramen Arashi, their take on ramen sets itself apart by staying true to authentic recipes and steering clear of a trend-focussed menu. 

“In Japan, ramen is a blue-collar meal—a quick, affordable comfort food loved by everyone from kids to grandparents,” said Yuko. 

“That’s the spirit we’re bringing to Langford.”

This new Ramen Arashi location will offer the exact same menu as the popular Victoria location, including its authentic Tonkotsu, TanTan Men and Rice Bowls. 

The biggest difference is the increased size of the new location as compared to Victoria’s location. According to the Nichols’, the new spot has more than double the seating capacity, which includes plenty of bar seating and large bench tables for families and groups. 

This location will be the sixth rendition of Ramen Arashi, which originated in Banff, Alberta in 2017. 

However, this may be just the beginning of Ramen Arashi’s expansion in BC. 

“We’ve had people from all over Vancouver Island and even the mainland asking when Ramen Arashi will come to their town,” said Allan. “We’re listening.”

The grand opening is this upcoming Wednesday for dine-in, but Ramen Arashi says that delivery won’t be made available until a later date.
