Here’s what you need to know ahead of Victoria’s beloved Pride Parade this weekend

Ready your rainbow clothing, merch and flags for another incredible Pride Parade!

This year, the parade will take place on Sunday, July 6th at 11 a.m. in downtown Victoria, boasting as many as 140 entries and over 70,000 excited spectators.

It’s a community favourite for a reason, as this event always consists of an impressive display of colourful costumes, floats and an electric atmosphere.

To open the parade, Victoria Pride Society has asked the Songhees Nation and other Indigenous and Two-Spirit guests of honour to welcome everyone. This will take place at the corner of Douglas and Fisgard Streets.

The route is slightly different this year, with the parade starting at the intersection of Pandora Avenue and Government Street, and continuing down Wharf Street.

There’s accessible viewing all along Wharf Street near the Fairmont Empress, and general viewing spots can be found along the entirety of the route.

The parade will weave its way to where it ends at McDonald Park, where the highly-anticipated Festival in the Park will take place!

This festival is also a community highlight, complete with live entertainment, food trucks and a wide variety of vendors selling all sorts of goods.
