It was a picture-perfect summer evening in Victoria as the Canadian Forces Snowbirds put on a breathtaking show that had thousands of heads turned skyward.
At exactly 6 p.m. Tuesday night—just as scheduled—the iconic nine-plane formation roared over the city in a condensed version of their air show routine.
For nearly 15 minutes, the Snowbirds carved up the skies above downtown Victoria, the Dallas Road waterfront, Ogden Point, and well beyond, drawing cheers, gasps, and plenty of camera clicks.
It wasn’t a full air show performance, but more of a bonus flyover and it didn’t disappoint.
Social media lit up almost immediately with photos and videos, as Victorians captured the red-and-white jets streaking past landmarks in tight formation. With the weather absolutely perfect for it, the entire capital region got a front-row seat.
Thousands gathered at popular viewing points, from downtown rooftops to beach blankets along Dallas Road.
The Snowbirds last visited Victoria in 2023, when they escorted the historic Hawaii Martin Mars water bomber on its final flight from Sproat Lake to Patricia Bay. That flight marked the massive plane’s retirement and eventual move to the BC Aviation Museum in North Saanich.
Next up, Nanaimo gets its turn. A full Snowbirds air show is scheduled there for August 15th and 16th—and if Tuesday’s mini-show was any indication, it’s going to be one worth watching.
Here are some of our favourite photos and videos from the evening:
