Nanaimo RCMP are investigating an early morning robbery at the Gas N Go on the Trans-Canada Highway and are asking the public to help identify the suspect.
The incident occurred around 3:40 a.m. on Wednesday, June 18th, when a man entered the gas station, located at 2199 Trans Canada Highway near Morden Road,.
The suspect allegedly brandished a knife while making demands to a store employee.
Police said the suspect made off with an undisclosed amount of cash and merchandise before fleeing the scene. It was unclear which direction the individual went after leaving the store.
RCMP have since released surveillance images of the suspect, who is described as a man between 5’10” and 6 feet tall with a thin build.
He is believed to be in his late teens or early 20s and was last seen wearing a blue t-shirt, dark pants, striped runners, a black baseball cap, and dark-rimmed glasses. His face was partially covered with a white cloth.
Investigators are urging anyone who may have seen suspicious activity before or after the incident, or who has information about the suspect, to come forward.
Motorists who were travelling through the area between 3:30 and 4 a.m. are also asked to check their dashcam footage for anything that may assist police.
