New metal festival ‘Mosh The Rock’ coming to Sooke this summer

Get ready to mosh this summer in Sooke, Vancouver Island!

A new festival will be taking place in Sooke, geared toward all the many metalheads of Vancouver Island, and beyond.

‘Mosh The Rock’ Island Metalfest will be the first metal-specific music festival since Vancouver Island Metal Festival.

The festival will take place in Sooke’s Fred Milne Park on Sunday, August 10th, and tickets are now on sale for the event.

The day’s headliners will be the Victoria-based band, Torrefy, described as unorthodox black thrash, Canada; Thirteen Goats, who play ferocious riff-driven bangers about death, madness, and the destruction of all things; and Yegg, who are based out of Nanaimo and play old school death metal.

Additional bands billed to play Mosh The Rock are Mutual Trauma, Dead After Dark, Burnt Lung, Pharm, Cyborg, Joker’s Revenge, Blacktop Social and Wolf Venom.

This festival is meant for metalheads of all-ages, though those under 12-years-old must be accompanied by an adult.

For those over 19-years-old, there will be alcohol sales onsite. Those hoping to have a drink must bring two pieces of identification to receive a wristband that will allow them to buy alcohol.

Those hoping to enjoy the festival with a few additional perks can get themselves a VIP ticket, which includes a separate tented stage viewing/seating area, a private bar, private restroom facilities as well as a VIP credential ticket on a lanyard.

Parking onsite is available, but limited.

To help mitigate this, organizers are hoping to organize a free shuttle service between Westshore Town Centre and the event. Details on that service are still to be announced. Follow the event on Facebook to stay in the loop.

The event organizers encourage those hoping to come to bring lawn chairs, blankets and umbrellas which can be set up in designated areas of the park.

“We are looking forward to an amazing day of awesome music and community,” said organizers in a Facebook post.

“Hugs n loves, HORNS WAAAY UP YA’LL!!!!”
