Langford-based Sheringham Distillery, known for their award-winning gin, has scored a prestigious placement with Ontario’s liquor board.
Their beloved Seaside Gin, named Best Contemporary Gin in the World at the 2019 World Gin Awards, has landed what is called a coveted ‘General List’ placement with the Liquor Control Board of Ontario (LCBO).
This is a huge milestone, and means that Seaside Gin is now going to be available year-round at LCBO stores across Ontario as opposed to only seasonally.
According to a media release, this decision follows two successful six-month trial periods, during which the gin consistently impressed both consumers and the LCBO with its performance.
“Seaside Gin has always been a spirit born from passion and place,” said Jason MacIsaac, Sheringham’s Co-Founder and Master Distiller.
“To now see it become a permanent fixture on LCBO shelves is incredibly rewarding. It means that our gin resonated with Ontario consumers, and that’s the highest compliment we could hope for.”
Seaside Gin was created by founders Jason and Alayne MacIsaac to capture the spirit and beauty of the Pacific Ocean.
Its flavour profile is savoury, citrusy and refreshingly bright, and features a unique ingredient that sets it apart from competing gin: local kelp that’s been sustainably harvested.
A nod to the salty sea breeze and a key reason why Seaside Gin has attracted international acclaim.
“As we continue to grow our footprint across Canada and into the U.S., Ontario remains a key market for us,” added Alayne, Sheringham’s Co-Founder and CEO.
“We’re excited to deepen our connection with Ontario spirits lovers—and we’re just getting started.”
