Charges have been laid against a Nanaimo man for allegedly causing a motor vehicle collision that claimed the life of one individual.
Nanaimo RCMP say that 47-year-old Samuel Taylor has been charged with dangerous driving causing death and impaired driving causing death.
The incident took place on August 10th, 2024, and claimed the life of another motorist, 42-year-old Joy Pecknold, who was heading northbound on the Nanaimo Parkway.
At the time, witnesses told police that a dark-coloured car with one occupant was driving southbound when it crossed the median into oncoming traffic and collided with Pecknold’s vehicle.
Following investigation, a warrant was issued for Taylor by Nanaimo RCMP on June 16th of this year.
He was located and arrested the following day with conditions and a court date of June 24th.
Police say that the victim’s family were informed of Taylor’s arrest.
