The true marker of the summer season, Victoria’s beloved flower hanging baskets have returned to the streets downtown!
As of June 12th, City of Victoria crews began installing hundreds of hanging baskets on downtown lamp posts featuring flowers grown at the Beacon Hill Park nursery.
Once assembled, the baskets remain inside the nursery for one week, and then they’re moved outside to become acclimatized.
When fully grown these baskets are said to weigh over 45 pounds!
First introduced in 1937, Victoria has continued this tradition, hanging them every year. These gorgeous flower baskets are now recognized world-wide as a downtown Victoria staple.
The next time you’re out and about, be sure to look up and admire their beauty!
