Victoria’s iconic red double-decker tour buses have new ownership.
Last week, the Victoria-based company, Wilson’s Transportation announced it has sold off a significant portion of its assets—the sightseeing bus division of the company.
This sale will include Gray Line Sightseeing Victoria (Hop-on Hop-off), CVS Tours (Butchart Gardens Experience Tour) as well as Victoria Cruise Services (Shore Excursions).
This division has been bought out by Pacific Northwest Transportation Services (PNWTS), who are also based out of Victoria and offer similar services to Wilson’s Transportation with charters and cruise shuttles for tourists coming to town via cruise ships at Ogden Point.
“After much careful consideration and heartfelt discussion, The Wilson’s Group of Companies has made the decision to sell our sightseeing division and the business lines associated,” John Wilson, CEO of Wilson’s Group of Companies, said in a letter to his clients and partners.
According to Wilson, the sightseeing tours have been a cornerstone of the company for over a decade, by providing experiences in downtown Victoria and shuttle transportation to the world-renowned Butchart Gardens.
“This decision was not made lightly; however, we do feel it is the right decision to drive our company into the future,” Wilson continued.
“This change reflects our ongoing commitment to the company’s vision while focusing on the core services that have defined our company for three generations.
Wilson’s Transportation says that this transition will mark the end of a significant chapter in their story, while also providing an opportunity to narrow their focus on offering people in the region professional transportation.
“To everyone who contributed to the success of our sightseeing division over the years, we want to thank you,” Wilson concluded.
The sale of the sightseeing bus division was made effective Thursday, May 1st.
