Get ready, Victoria—one of the city’s most iconic nautical events is sailing back into town!

The Royal Victoria Yacht Club is gearing up to host the 80th edition of the Swiftsure International Yacht Race from Friday, May 23rd to Sunday, May 25th.

Each year, the Swiftsure draws world-class sailors and thousands of visitors from across the Pacific Northwest, and this year is no exception!

Racers and fans come in from across British Columbia, Washington, and Oregon to take part in what’s become a long-standing maritime tradition in Victoria.

For spectators, Clover Point is the best location for shoreside viewing!

And to make sure you don’t miss this key spot, a pancake breakfast will be offered there by the Central Saanich Lions Club at 8 a.m. on Saturday.

The first race starts with the Three Long Courses at 9 a.m. on Saturday, followed by the start of the Inshore Races, which finish at Cadboro Bay.

Awards and music will take place at the Royal Yacht Club in the evening.

If you plan on watching the Three Long Courses on Sunday, Ogden Point is known to be the best viewing spot.

The celebrations will kick off even earlier, as the club welcomes participants of the 49th Pacific NW Offshore International Yacht Race!

They’ll be arriving in Victoria on May 17th and 18th, marking the completion of their own impressive journey.

Whether you’re on the water or watching from shore, the Swiftsure is more than just a race—it’s a celebration of sailing, community, and the West Coast spirit.
