Add this to your list of Pride celebrations!
Pride Month is set to sashay in with sparkle and flair as Intrepid Theatre kicks things off with ‘Drag Is Art’—a four-day celebration of drag performance, creativity, and community running Thursday, May 29th to Sunday, June 1st.
Taking over the Metro Studio and Intrepid Studio, the mini-festival is part of the inaugural Queer Island Festival of the Arts, and promises to be a dazzling tribute to one of the most vibrant art forms out there.
Each night will bring something bold and unique to the stage, highlighting drag as not only entertainment but a powerful form of expression and storytelling.
On the roster are shows like ColourVision, an all-POC drag showcase, and Mouthfull, an experimental drag experience hosted by Canada’s Drag Race alum Vivian Vanderpuss alongside Ket Bush.

Plus, Vancouver queens and Georgia Strait “Best Drag Show” winners Whoria Estefan and Wan Ting Moi will present their theatre spectacle, Drama Club.
But perhaps the most heartwarming (and hilarious) highlight of the weekend will be Diva Cabaret.
This special fundraising night features local business leaders, changemakers, and even media personalities stepping into wigs, heels, and the spotlight for their very first drag performances!
Among the first-timers are Bailey and Johnny from Virgin Radio Mornings, mentored by local drag royalty including Vivian Vanderpuss, who will guide them through the transformation from boardroom to ballroom.
Beyond the glamour, Drag Is Art is rooted in community. The Diva Cabaret fundraiser supports Intrepid’s year-round programming and residency opportunities, helping cultivate even more space for queer and diverse artists in Victoria’s arts scene.
General admission to each show varies by performance, but they range from $25 to $27. For The Diva Cabaret, attendees have the choice to donate with the purchase of their tickets.

And, in keeping with its commitment to accessibility, Intrepid Theatre is once again offering Pay-What-You-Ten tickets, where 10% of tickets for each show are available for just $10.
Whether you’re a longtime drag fan or brand new to the scene, Drag Is Art invites you to celebrate identity, artistry, and community in fabulous, glitter-drenched style!
See you there!
