Suspect arrested after rocks thrown through windows of homes and vehicles in Colwood

A 34-year-old man is in custody following a string of vandalism incidents in Colwood that left several homes and vehicles damaged.

Just after midnight on Saturday, May 25th, West Shore RCMP responded to the 3000-block of Clement Road after a rock was thrown through the window of a home.

Over the next several hours, more reports came in from residents on Clement Road, Allendale Road, and Owens Road. All reports described similar acts of mischief involving rocks smashing through windows.

Several vehicles in the same area were also reported damaged, with police believing the incidents all occurred during the early morning hours of May 25th.

At around 7:30 a.m. that same day, West Shore RCMP arrested 34-year-old Christopher Elliot in connection with the case.

He has since been charged with mischief over $5,000 and remains in custody.

“This arrest was the result of tireless work by the Frontline officers and the collaborative support from West Shore’s Investigative Support Team,” said Sergeant Kevin Shaw, who oversees the team. “This is a great example of those two units working together to investigate a rash of damage to vehicles and property.”

The Investigative Support Team was created in 2024 to assist with complex or time-consuming cases that go beyond the day-to-day scope of frontline policing.

Police say the investigation is ongoing and are asking anyone who hasn’t yet spoken with officers but may have information or property damage from that morning to contact them at 250-474-2264.
