Stomp, roar and learn alongside these ancient creatures—the prehistoric world has landed in Nanaimo!
Starting Saturday, June 7th and running through until September 6th, the Dinosaurs of BC exhibit will be bringing ancient giants to life at the Nanaimo Museum.
Produced by the Royal BC Museum, this captivating travelling exhibit invites visitors to journey back millions of years to a time when British Columbia’s rugged peaks, dense forests, and remote river basins were roamed by massive creatures like tyrannosaurs and ankylosaurs.
The star of the show is “Buster,” the Iron Lizard of the Sustut River, a uniquely BC-born ferrisaurus that’s capturing hearts and imaginations.

Visitors will be able to immerse themselves in the hands-on displays and interactive elements, peek at preserved marine fossils, and read detailed research by the Royal BC Museum’s paleontology team.
Since its debut at the Royal BC Museum in 2023, the exhibit has been met with rave reviews, and the Nanaimo Museum is thrilled to bring this exhibit to the local community.
“We are excited to host Dinosaurs of BC,” says Aimee Greenaway, curator at the Nanaimo Museum.
“The exhibit’s hands-on interactives will keep guests of all ages engaged and having fun while learning about dinosaurs from our province.”
Admission into the museum is by donation.
It’s an adventure you won’t want to miss!
