From capital to capital, travelling from Victoria to Ottawa just got a lot easier!
A new travel option is taking off for Victoria residents looking to fly directly to Canada’s capital.
Porter Airlines has officially launched the only non-stop flight between Victoria International Airport (YYJ) and Ottawa International Airport (YOW), marking a major expansion of its cross-country service.
The route kicks off with four roundtrip flights per week, but travelers won’t have to wait long for more flexibility, as daily service begins on June 16th.
The scheduled flight times are as follows:
Ottawa to Victoria
- Departure: 8:40 a.m.
- Arrival: 11:00 a.m.
Victoria to Ottawa
- Departure: 11:55 a.m.
- Arrival: 7:40 p.m.
“Direct service between Victoria and Ottawa is a welcome new connection between two of Canada’s capital cities,” said Elizabeth Brown, President and CEO, Victoria Airport Authority
“We’re excited to welcome more visitors to Vancouver Island, and equally excited to make it easier for our community to explore the heart of our nation.”
All flights are operated using Porter’s spacious Embraer E195-E2 aircraft, which seats 132 passengers in a comfortable two-by-two layout. That means no one gets stuck in the dreaded middle seat!
Porter is setting itself apart from other carriers by offering what it calls an “elevated economy experience.”
This includes complimentary beer and wine served in real glassware, premium Canadian snacks, and fast, free WiFi on board.
Those who opt for PorterReserve fares will enjoy extra perks like fresh meals, priority services, additional legroom, and two checked bags.
For travellers who prefer to customize their experience, enhancements are also available à la carte through PorterClassic.
For Vancouver Island residents, the new service offers seamless access not only to Ottawa but also to Porter’s wider eastern Canadian network, including Halifax, Charlottetown, Fredericton, and St. John’s.
