Conservation Officers are responding after a cougar reportedly attacked a dog near a trailer park in Port McNeill on Thursday morning.
According to residents, the incident happened on May 29th behind the IGA in the 1700-block of Campbell Way.
According to a comment posted on the Town of Port McNeill’s Facebook page, the cougar had been hiding beneath a trailer when a neighbour’s dog spotted it and gave chase.
The cougar attacked the dog, but the dog managed to scare it off in the process.
At this time, details remain limited, but residents in the area are urged to take extra precautions with children and pets.
The Conservation Officer Service has not yet released further information, but their team is investigating the incident.
