One of the city’s most inspiring literary events is back!
Story Studio is inviting everyone to attend their event, “Community of Stories: An Evening in Conversation” with Esi Edugyan and Michael Christie.
This event promises creativity, connection, and powerful storytelling, all in support of young writers across Canada.
Set in the ever-stylish and community-driven KWENCH building, this fundraiser is more than just an evening out—it’s a rare chance to connect with two of Canada’s most celebrated authors.
Featured authors include Esi Edugyan, two-time Giller Prize winner, and Michael Christie, author of the acclaimed Greenwood. The pair will be taking the stage for an intimate, interactive conversation about how stories can shape communities and create meaningful change.
The evening includes a silent auction, a presentation from the authors, and plenty of opportunities to mingle with fellow book lovers, writers, and supporters of youth literacy.
The event will honour the winners of Story Studio’s nationwide youth writing competition, which welcomed powerful and imaginative voices from young Canadian authors aged 9 to 17-years-old.
“All proceeds from the evening will go directly to supporting our programs, helping more young people discover their voice through writing,” said Sean Rodman, Executive Director of Story Studio.
“We believe that stories are not just entertainment—they’re essential tools for building empathy, confidence, and community.”
Since 2011, Story Studio has been on a mission to empower youth through the written word, helping more than 12,000 young people improve their literacy, boost their confidence, and connect through creativity.
“At Island Savings, we believe in the power of storytelling to inspire and connect communities,” said Kendall Gross, President of Island Savings who is sponsoring the event.
“This event not only celebrates the art of storytelling but also supports the incredible work of Story Studio in empowering youth through creative writing.”
