VicPD are seeking the public’s assistance in locating a suspect who can be seen keying a Tesla Cybertruck earlier this week.
On Monday, March 31st, just after 5 p.m., the Cybertruck was damaged in a keying incident while parked in the 800-block of Humboldt Street.
However, all Teslas have built-in security cameras that activate when someone gets within a close proximity to the vehicle.
The footage was submitted to VicPD following the incident, and now police are sharing it with the public in the hopes the suspect can be identified.
See the below video, captured by the Cybertruck’s built-in cameras:
Police say that this incident marks the second reported case of mischief involving a Tesla vehicle this year.
According to VicPD, on February 13th, obscenities were written on the side of a Cybertruck using dust.
Police believe these acts to be motivated people’s dissent for Tesla owner Elon Musk and his connections to the US government.
Anyone who recognizes the individual in the footage or has any information related to this incident should contact the E-Comm Report Desk at (250) 995-7654 and reference file number 25-11330.
