A once-thriving food production facility in North Saanich is set to be auctioned off later this month, marking a major milestone in the fallout of Epicure’s sudden closure.
On Friday, April 25th, Able Auctions will liquidate the entire contents of the former Epicure food facility, following the company’s bankruptcy filing and shutdown earlier this year.
A preview of the 9,000-square-foot property—located at 10555 W Saanich Road—will take place the day before, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on April 24th.
Founded in 1991, Epicure became a household name across Canada for its health-conscious seasonings, meal solutions, and cookware.
After relocating its operations to the North Saanich site in 2003, the company grew to employ around 200 people and became known for its direct sales model that empowered thousands of consultants nationwide.
But after more than 30 years in business, Epicure officially ceased operations on January 24th, citing ongoing financial struggles in the wake of the pandemic.
“This was not a choice made lightly,” founder Sylvie Rochette wrote in a letter to consultants at the time, describing the closure as a result of post-pandemic pressures and mounting challenges in the market.
Now, every piece of equipment inside the facility—from forklifts and pallet dollies to bottling lines, commercial kitchen gear, packaging machines, and nearly 4,000 bays of warehouse racking—is set to go to the highest bidder.
According to Able Auctions, this is a complete sell-off of all assets, including industrial kitchen appliances, backup generators, food-handling equipment, and office furnishings.
A video tour of the facility was released on their Facebook page to give potential buyers a closer look ahead of auction day.
Interested bidders must register in advance, and Able Auctions is encouraging first-time online bidders to sign up at least one business day before the auction to ensure approval.
All winning bidders are responsible for removing the entirety of their lot during designated pickup dates the following week.
Epicure’s shutdown marked the end of a Canadian culinary staple known for helping busy families create healthier meals. With its entire facility now hitting the auction block, this upcoming sale closes another chapter in the company’s long-standing legacy.
More details on the auction, including registration and inventory, can be found at Able Auctions’ website.
