7-Eleven’s popular ‘Bring Your Own Cup’ slurpee event returns this week

Slurpee fans, it’s that time again.

7-Eleven Canada’s Bring Your Own Cup Day is back this Friday, April 11th and Saturday, April 12th, and if you’ve ever wanted to fill a flower vase with frozen blue slush, this is your moment.

The concept is simple, you bring a “cup” from home—something fun, maybe even ridiculous—and as long as it’s food-safe, leakproof, and under 26cm in diameter, you can fill it with as much Slurpee as it’ll hold.

In past years, people have shown up with everything from kettles to popcorn bowls to blenders. If it can hold a drink, it’s fair game.

This year, there’s a new exclusive flavour too—Fanta Blue Raspberry, which somehow manages to taste like childhood and summer all in one. It’s the perfect colour to go with the over-the-top vessels people usually bring out for this.

“Maybe it’s the nostalgia for spirited and playful imagination, but there’s something about Bring Your Own Cup Day that always gets me excited,” said Marc Goodman from 7-Eleven Canada.

And he’s not wrong—there’s something fun about seeing people of all ages show up with whatever they can find at home just to fill it with a Slurpee.

Canada’s Slurpee obsession runs deep—Winnipeg has been the Slurpee Capital of the World for over 20 years, with locals drinking enough to fill a dozen Olympic pools.

If you’re a 7Rewards member, you’ll snag some bonus points when you take part. And if you’re posting your creation on social media, toss in the hashtag #SlurpeeBYOC—you could end up winning free Slurpee for a year or even $711 in a daily prize draw.

Not bad for bringing your soup pot to a convenience store!

So go ahead—get creative, keep it within the rules, and treat yourself to a sugar rush. This is one of those weird little Canadian traditions that doesn’t take itself too seriously, and that’s exactly why it’s so fun.
