Two police cruisers were damaged and rendered inoperable in separate cases in downtown Victoria last week.
In a recent release, VicPD said the first instance occurred on March 6th, just after 10:30 p.m., when officers received a report of someone causing a disturbance inside a building on the 900-block of Pandora Avenue.
After the individual was removed from the building, they allegedly picked up a large orange pylon and began swinging it at a parked VicPD car.
The incident caused significant damage to the cruiser, which resulted in the car being inoperable.
The suspect, Said Hassan, was arrested and faces one charge of mischief over $5,000, mischief by willfully obstructing, interrupting or interfering with lawful use, enjoyment or operation of a property.
The second instance occurred on March 8th, when police received a report of theft in the 100-block of Harbour Road, where they were allegedly stealing paintings and chairs.
The suspect was later located in the 800-block of Douglas Street and reportedly became confrontational with police.
Once placed inside the police car, he proceeded to kick the door, causing significant damage and rendering the vehicle non-functional.
This incident is still under investigation.
