Dog owners in Saanich can look forward to another paw-some season of off-leash fun as the District reopens three pop-up dog parks for the third year in a row.
These temporary dog havens will be open from the first week of April until the last week of October, giving pups plenty of time to sniff, run, and play freely all spring, summer, and fall.
The pop-up parks are located at:
- Hyacinth Park – same location as last year
- Lambrick Park – with separate areas for small and big dogs
- Rudd Park – same spot as before
Each enclosure will be fully fenced and thoughtfully equipped with dog water bowls, benches for pet parents, and shade from nearby trees wherever possible.
It’s a setup that has proven popular among both dogs and their humans.
“Having pop-ups in our parks has helped us learn how to build these facilities,” said the District of Saanich in a statement. “These temporary enclosures will be discontinued as they are replaced by permanent fenced leash-optional areas in upcoming years.”
So while the pop-ups may be temporary, they’re paving the way for more permanent pup-friendly spaces across the municipality.
As baseball season runs from March 1st to October 31st, dog owners are reminded to keep their furry friends out of ball fields and fenced diamonds during this time. It’s a simple way to ensure the space stays safe and enjoyable for players throughout the season.
With the warm weather just around the corner, it’s shaping up to be another great season for Saanich’s four-legged residents—and their humans too.
