There’s a new sweet spot on the Saanich Peninsula, and it’s serving up smiles by the scoopful.
Just over a week into opening, Scoop and Waffle is already making a name for itself in downtown Sidney with a lineup of playful, year-round treats—and an atmosphere designed to make you feel like a kid again.
Located right on Beacon Avenue, this new dessert café is the brainchild of Amanda Coe, who’s been dreaming up this concept for a couple of years.
When a storefront became available in the heart of town, she saw the perfect opportunity to blend two of life’s greatest pleasures: ice cream and waffles.
“We wanted to bring a fun food concept to Sidney,” Amanda says. “We serve fun food—that’s our signature.”
And she’s not kidding.
The menu is packed with goodies, from 28 rotating flavours of ice cream to mini donuts, custom cakes, and even waffle pops—mini Belgian waffles served on a stick. You’ll also find milkshakes, sundaes, and warm Belgian waffles loaded with your choice of toppings.
The most indulgent order? Probably the Scoop and Waffle Sundae, served in a waffle cone bowl, topped with two scoops, whipped cream, chocolate sauce, sprinkles, and a cherry on top—complete with their adorable “waffle coin.”
The shop also offers vegan sorbets, gluten-free waffles, and gluten-friendly cones, so just about everyone can find something to dig into.
And there’s more coming.
Amanda and her team plan to keep things fresh with monthly flavour polls on Facebook, seasonal additions, and even savoury waffles as a lunch option this fall.
There’s also a grand opening celebration planned for mid-May, plus local partnerships with the Sidney Museum and the Shaw Centre for the Salish Sea to offer visitors a little something sweet post-visit.
The shop itself is designed to be bright, playful, and welcoming for all ages—right down to ice cream-shaped lollipops and a claw machine on the way. Whether you’re a kid, or just want to feel like one, this is your new happy place.
“We’ve only been open a week, but the warm welcome from the community has been incredible,” Amanda says.
“We’ve been busier than expected—it’s been a really fun start.”
Her personal favourite order? A gluten-free Belgian waffle topped with two scoops of chocolate peanut butter, Nutella drizzle, and whipped cream.
“Yum,” she adds.
If Scoop and Waffle were a flavour? Amanda says it best: “Fun and sweet.”
And if Amanda had the chance to serve ice cream to anyone in the world? She’d hand a scoop of ube—a bright purple, sweet yam-based ice cream—to none other than Mike Myers, just to see his reaction. “It’s actually very tasty,” she says with a smile.
