Spring is just around the corner, and what better way to celebrate than by giving downtown Victoria a good ol’ scrub!
The Clean Up Victoria Society is gearing up for its annual downtown clean-Up event, happening on Saturday, March 15th, from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Centennial Square.
This community initiative is all about bringing locals together to keep the heart of our city clean, green, and vibrant.
The event will see volunteers hitting the streets of downtown to collect litter and spruce up the area. Downtown businesses are providing essential supplies like gloves and trash bags to make sure the event runs smoothly.
Organizers are hoping for a big turnout, and everyone is invited to pitch in, whether you’re an individual or a business owner.
It’s a fantastic way to show some love for the city, meet like-minded folks, and do your part to improve the community. Plus, there’s a little something extra for one lucky participant—a special gift basket from local small businesses, which will be awarded at the end of the event.
“We believe that small actions can lead to a big impact,” says Kane Hammontree, founder of Clean Up Victoria Society and CEO of Solve Energy. “This event is a great way for individuals and businesses to come together and take pride in our city, ensuring a cleaner and more vibrant community for everyone.”
Volunteers will be assigned specific clean-up routes, and they’ll head back to Centennial Square by noon for closing remarks and the prize giveaway.
And don’t worry—safety is a priority. Volunteers will receive a quick briefing on safety, including how to properly handle hazardous materials, and a licensed first aid attendant will be on-site just in case.
If you’re ready to pitch in, all you have to do is show up! For those who want to RSVP or learn more, head to Clean Up Victoria Society’s website.
Let’s make downtown Victoria shine this spring!
