Active theater-goers and anyone in the mood for fun, mark your calendars!
After a long hiatus due to the pandemic, Paper Street Theatre is thrilled to announce its highly anticipated return with their week-long Improv Festival, featuring improvisers from across the globe.
It will run from Tuesday, April 15th to Saturday, April 19th at the Intrepid Theatre Club.
“Our festival has always been about celebrating experimentation and artistry,” said director Dave Morris.
“It’s exciting to bring together improvisers from across North America and Europe to perform new shows, and to celebrate the amazing talent here in Victoria.”
Paper Street Theatre has lined up an impressive roster of guest artists, including Tony Beeman and Cynthia Lair from Seattle’s Unexpected Productions.
Additionally, Kelly Agathos will be coming all the way from Brussels, Belgium to perform and Olivia Karpyshyn is making her way to the festival, all the way from London, England.
Along with a powerhouse ensemble of improvisers from across Canada and Europe, this year’s festival is set to bring an entirely new level of creativity to the stage.
Throughout the week, audiences can expect a range of performances, including ensemble shows directed by guest artists and solo sets by some of the most accomplished improvisers in the world.
And the excitement doesn’t stop there—late-night mash-up shows and public workshops will also be part of the festival, offering attendees an interactive and immersive experience.
Paper Street Theatre has built a reputation for taking improvisation to new heights, blending traditional theatrical styles with the spontaneity of this artform.
By studying the works of great playwrights and performing their ideas without scripts, the theatre company aims to change the way people perceive improv.
