Two separate GoFundMe pages have been created for the two young men who were killed in a serious collision on the Nanaimo Parkway last week.
On February 20th at around 4 a.m. near the intersection of Highway 19 and Jingle Pot Road in Nanaimo, Nathan Bennie and Garrett were in a car traveling northbound.
The driver of the car made a left turn against a red light and was struck by a southbound semi-trailer. Both young men, the driver and passenger, died at the scene.
The GoFundMe pages were created in hopes of providing a little financial relief as their loved ones navigate this loss.

“Those that got to know Garrett, know how thoughtful, and deeply protective he was of those he loved,” GoFundMe organizer Danielle Kelly wrote.
“Garrett always put others before himself. More than anything, he would want his family to be cared for as they grieve.”
Bennie’s GoFundMe, organized by Angelina Roodenburg on behalf of Karen Green, echoes a similar sentiment.
“To say [Bennie] had a good heart would be an understatement, rest easy Nathan E. Bennie you will be forever loved and missed.”
As of this publication, Garrett’s page has raised just under $17,000 of its $20,000 goal, and Bennie’s page is at $2,330 of its $10,000 goal.
